Pulp mill waste hits the road instead of the landfill. Waste materials from the pulp and paper industry have long been seen as possible fillers for building products like cement, but for years these materials have ended up in the landfill. Community members and students are welcome to attend a virtual talk entitled “Meditations on Spacetime & Indigeneity” featuring Corey Gray of the Siksika Nation on April 1 at 5pm. Corey is the lead operator at LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory) Hanford Observatory, and part of a group of researchers that confirmed the existence of gravitational waves, marking a major discovery for the fields of physics and astronomy. IEEE Vancouver Section are inviting applications for three available scholarships. The award competition is open to undergraduate and graduate IEEE student members within the Vancouver Section’s geographic area (BC Province, excluding Vancouver Island).
