Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Projects in Health (MURPH) is an undergraduate research program at UBC Okanagan, aiming to offer a unique cross-disciplinary platform for undergraduate students to engage in academic research, while also receiving professional training through custom-designed workshops. The core component of MURPH includes project teams comprising multiple undergraduate students and faculty members across different disciplines working together on applied health research projects.

We are inviting all undergraduate students from any faculty/school at UBC Okanagan to apply for the MURPH research positions available over the academic year of 2021-2022. Part-time commitment is expected from the admitted students to the program.

Note: The students who have participated in the program in the past two years are not eligible to apply again this year.

The Canadian Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (CPCI) is pleased to introduce the Sonia Saari Memorial Scholarship. Under a new agreement with Mitacs, CPCI is offering two scholarships at $20,000 per year, renewable upon satisfactory approval for a second year, for a total of $40,000 each. The Sonia Saari Memorial Scholarship is available for graduate or post graduate Engineering students in the field of precast or prestressed concrete related research, design or construction for the 2021-2022 academic year. The student must have achieved a bachelor’s or graduate degree from a Canadian accredited program by the summer of 2021.

This year, Hibatallah Alwazani is graduating with a MASc in Electrical Engineering! During her degree, she focused her studies on wireless communication, in particular on intelligent reflecting surfaces, and discovered her passion for teaching. Moving forward, Hibatallah will be pursuing her PhD in Electrical Engineering and balancing her work studies with healing personal time spent on the beautiful UBCO campus. Learn more

The Order of the White Rose is a $30,000 scholarship is open to women engineering graduates planning to pursue an MASc or PhD.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the candidate must, as of the application submission deadline at her home institution (June 18, 2021), be:

  • A woman
  • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • A graduate of an engineering program at a Canadian university and have completed her bachelor’s degree in December 2020, or be in the process of completing it in May or August 2021

Nearly 300 undergraduate and over 100 graduate engineering students will be conferred today during the University of British Columbia Okanagan’s second virtual convocation. The graduates will join over 1,850 graduates from faculties across the Okanagan campus. 288 undergraduate students in civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering will receive the Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degrees while 44 Masters of Applied Science (MASc), 24 Masters of Engineering (MEng), and 27 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees will be conferred.

The award competition is open to undergraduate and graduate IEEE student members within the Vancouver Section’s geographic area (BC Province, excluding Vancouver Island).
