A new promotional campaign by the University of British Columbia that launches this week features an engineering graduate student from the Okanagan campus.
Tim Abbott is currently pursuing his PhD in civil engineering under the supervision of Cigdem Eskicioglu in the Bioreactor Technology Group. Abbott, who returned to university after a career in information technology sector, is passionate about his field of research.
“It’s exciting to think that I can build something that will protect my home for future generations.”
One of the primary research goals of the Bioreactor Technology Group is to optimize biological treatment processes for municipal, industrial and agricultural waste minimization. Through the process, they are working on ways to re-purpose micropollutants and bioenergy from the by-products of wastewater.
