The School of Engineering is pleased to welcome two new faculty members in January 2018.
“We’re thrilled to welcome these new faculty to the School of Engineering” says Associate Dean Rehan Sadiq. “Professor Chaaban and Professor Golovin are bolstering our ranks within our electrical and mechanical programs, and we look forward to their contributions in the coming years.”
Anas Chaaban
Dr. Chaaban received his PhD. From Ruhr-University of Bochum in Germany for his research into “Relaying for Interference Management” specifically network information theory. He completed two post-doctoral fellowships at Ruhr-University and at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. Dr. Chaaban continues to research optical wireless communications, communication theory, relay networks and coding theory. He is fluent in Arabic, English and German.
Kevin Golovin
Dr. Golovin returns to Canada after a decade studying, researching and teaching in the United States. He is an alumni of Cornell University and completed his PhD. at the University of Michigan. His area of research is focused on advanced manufacturing related to the aerospace industry including coatings, 3D printing and fibre composites. He received a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship in recognition of his work.
Dr. Golovin will be building a diverse inter-disciplinary research group that “will address some of the key challenges in energy efficiency and sustainability (faced by the aerospace industry).”
