Biography

Morad Abdelaziz is an assistant professor at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus. He received his PhD from the University of Waterloo where he developed novel analysis and control algorithms for MicroGrid systems.

Dr. Abdelaziz has held teaching positions at the University of Waterloo, Université Laval and Western Washington University where he conducted research in the areas of smart grids and active distribution networks.

His current research focus is on smart grids, renewable energy, distributed generation, high performance computation (HPC) applications for power systems, power system software development and the integration of an electrified transport systems within the electrical grid.

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Abdelaziz worked for one of the World’s leading engineering firms (Dar Al-Handasah Consultancy) where he planned, commissioned and site supervised a variety of projects.
