School of Engineering Convocation 2018

The School of Engineering welcomed over 200 graduates and their guests to the Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia to celebrate the convocation of its class of 2018.

Over 200 undergraduate and 59 graduate degrees were conferred.

In a reception following the ceremony, Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia presented certificates to the students who achieved the highest academic standing in their respective discipline.  Russell Main received the certificate for civil engineering, Jacob van der Holt received the certificate for electrical (van der Hold also received the UBC Head of Class Gold Medal) and Rui Kai Miao received the certificate for mechanical.

Miao also received a certificate and medallion from the Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineering as the top graduating mechanical engineering student at the School of Engineering.

At the same reception, Capstone Group 33 was recognized for their winning project and received the Doug and Ruth Pearce Engineering Capstone Prize.
