IOL – Integrated Optics Laboratory (Electrical Engineering):

In this lab students will work with lasers and optics. They harness the high speed capabilities of light to bring about new technologies for communication.

CPLF – Cyber-physical Learning Factory (Manufacturing Engineering):

In this lab there is a small-scale factory that mimics a cell phone assembly process. Students in our Manufacturing Engineering program use this factory to learn about and design automated systems. The factory contains state-of-the-art sensors and controller technology to prepare students to work in industries such as advanced manufacturing, food & beverage, automobile, and many others!

CRN – Composites Research Network Research Group (Mechanical Engineering):

In this Lab, we create and test new materials by blending different substances together. Our aim is to make stronger, lighter, and more resilient materials for future aerospace and automotive applications.

BTG – Bioreactor Technology Group (Civil Engineering):

In this lab, students use advanced bioreactors to produce more energy (biomethane and biohydrogen) and recover resources from organic waste, like wastewater sludge

CTL – Communication Theory Lab (Computer Engineering):

In this lab, students will learn how Gigabits can be stored in a memory device or communicated over a wire without errors through cool mathematics tricks!

Civil Engineering Lab Tour

12:00-2:00pm – Self guided drop-in tour

Learn about current research that aims to develop innovative technology, design methods, and construction techniques which will facilitate the construction of greener structures that are resilient to natural disasters.

Students will also be showcasing samples from undergraduate courses. They will explain what types of testing was done on the samples, what courses this is performed in, and why these tests exist.

Makerspace Lab Tour
