UBC Engineering 101

Learn all about the Engineering Programs offered at the UBC Okanagan Campus, how to apply to UBC Okanagan and hear current students share their experiences and advice. Two presentation times are available.

Drop-In Engineering Lab Tours

11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Electrical Engineering The Wonderful World of Light

In this lab, students work with optics and laser light. They harness the unique abilities of light to bring about new technologies for communication and sensing.

Mechanical, Electrical and Computer EngineeringCyber-Physical Learning Factory

This lab features a small-scale factory that simulates a cell phone assembly process, allowing students to design and test automated systems using state-of-the-art sensors and controllers and preparing them for careers in industries such as advanced manufacturing, food and beverage, and automotive.

Mechanical Engineering – Composites Research Network

In this lab we get hands-on with the science of solid mechanics as we engineer, test, and reimagine the materials of tomorrow.

Makerspace Lab

Makerspace UBCO is a place to encourage design thinking, prototyping, and testing and will serve as a hub for innovation, cross-discipline and cross-sectoral collaboration and entrepreneurship for members of the UBC Okanagan campus. Learn about our 3D Printers, 3D Scanners, 3D Pens, CNC Carvers, Robotics equipment & more! 

Civil Engineering –People-centered Transportation Engineering

Explore how we are collecting data (e.g., virtual reality experiments and speed sensors) and building models to help private sector and municipal, provincial and federal government for economic and sustainable transportation planning and policy-making.

Campus Tours

10:00 am – 11:00 am, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

One hour guided walking tour of the UBC Okanagan campus which will be guided by friendly and knowledgeable student ambassadors. You will have a chance to visit a residence, library, and some recreational and social facilities. You can also learn more about all of the on-campus services available to students

Pre-registration will be available about one week prior to the event. The pre-registration link will be sent directly to all registered attendees and will be available at the top of this webpage when live.
