Program Selection/Year 2 Placement
Students proceeding to second year in the Bachelor of Applied Science (Okanagan) are guaranteed placement into any of the engineering programs at the UBC Okanagan campus: Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Class Standing (year level) is determined by the number of credits you have completed. The rules around promotion from first to second year are on the Academic Regulations page. Workday is automated to review and update your Class Standing every time a new grade is posted. As soon you earn enough credits to clear the threshold from first year to second year Class Standing, all BASC-O students can choose their Program of Study in Workday.
Choosing your program of study can be done at any time after moving into Year 2 Class Standing and can be changed if you change your mind and decide you want to switch programs or if you choose to add a Concentration later. Follow the steps outlined here to self-declare your program of study. Once you have completed these steps, you should immediately see your status in Workday change to reflect your new program and your Academic Progress Report will change to reflect your new requirements.
*The Manufacturing Engineering program is currently not accepting new students. If you have any questions, please contact soe.engineeringservices@ubc.ca.
