SoE Community: Join us for tea and conversation

March 19, 2026

UBC EME

In response to the difficult events unfolding in Iran, across the Middle East and around the world, members of the UBC Okanagan School of Engineering community are invited to come together in support of one another.

To create space for quiet connection, reflection and care, the School will host a series of informal tea and conversation gatherings over the coming weeks. These gatherings are intended to offer moments of support and community, while also celebrating the strength of the School and the vibrancy of the cultures that shape it through music, storytelling and food.

The first gathering, taking place on Tuesday, March 24, will also offer an opportunity to recognize Nowruz, the Persian New Year, observed on March 20.

All members of the School of Engineering community are welcome. Participants are invited to drop by for tea and sweets between classes, labs, study sessions or meetings, or to stay longer for conversation and connection.

The School of Engineering is grateful for the care, compassion, respect and dedication that members of its community continue to show one another every day.

Those with questions or suggestions about the gatherings, or who are interested in supporting the organizing team, are invited to contact Tyler Finley, Communications Manager, at tyler.finley@ubc.ca.
