This week in our series highlighting UBC Okanagan School of Engineering Student Ambassadors, we visit with Shreya Saxena.
Shreya is a second-year student with a focus on Electrical Engineering.
What is your role with the Student Ambassador program?
I am the events coordinator but as student ambassadors we work as a team where everyone helps each other complete the tasks that are laid out for us.
What extra-curricular activities are you involved with?
Along with Student Ambassador, I am one of the General Officers for the engineering society and I am also one of the VP Finances for our Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Chapter.
What has been your favourite course so far? And why?
Linear Algebra has been my favourite course by far because it takes a while to understand how to actually do the question, but once you understand the method there is no question that is too hard.
What have you learned about yourself during your time at UBC Okanagan?
I have learnt that a strong group of friends and family can get you through anything (even first year engineering).
Favourite pizza topping? And topping you never want to see on a pizza, ever?
My favourite pizza topping is banana peppers cause you just gotta add the spice in our life ?. And I never want to see pineapple on a pizza!
Favourite misconception about engineers and engineering?
Engineers must love math.
Looking ahead 5 or 10 years, where do you see yourself?
In 5 year I see myself finally getting my Engineering Degree after many years of hard work, and I will get the opportunity to travel the world. In 10 years I see myself working for a great organization that strives towards the betterment of the global society.
