Three 4th year students from the School of Engineering were the recipients of the 2016-17 APEGBC Okanagan Branch scholarships.
Laura Herrera Rodriguez, Blago Hristovski and Jessica Van Brummelen were each awarded the $750 scholarship for their demonstrated leadership and excellence in professionalism, community service, and academics.
James Barr, the chair of APEGBC Okanagan branch, said that APEGBC has received an excellent pool of applicants this year. The applications were reviewed and ranked based on academics and community service. Then, the top ranked applicants were invited for an interview.
“The three recipients were exemplary in their leadership and professionalism and we thank all donors who have made these scholarships possible to allow us recognize young professional individuals like Laura, Blago and Jessica” said Barr.
The scholarships, first awarded in 2012, were established in 2006 through corporate and individual donations as well as sponsors and are awarded annually to 4th year engineering and geoscience students enrolled at UBC’s Okanagan campus.
