Gordon Springate, UBC Chemical Engineering alumni and current Technology Research and Development Manager for Chevron, spent last week mentoring School of Engineering students as a part of his Essay Contest initiative.
He offered students the opportunity to answer one of two essay questions, and the reward was one-on-one mentoring time with Mr. Springate and Dr. Dwayne Tannant.
Three winners were announced in each of two categories:
Most Important Trait in an Engineer
- Mathieu Forcier
- Lauren Herrera
- Graham Inglis
Most Important Area of Research
- Kyle Hill
- Spencer Frame
- Russell Leask
Mr. Springate also held two drop-in coffee sessions where students could discuss related topics and gain insight into a professional engineering career, and guest-lectured in 3 engineering classes.
The School of Engineering thanks Mr. Springate for his support and mentorship of engineering students, and congratulations to the winners of this event!
