Dr. Ray Taheri, Senior Instructor in the School of Engineering, has been awarded the 2016 I Am Accessible Award.
This award is presented to a UBC Okanagan faculty member who epitomizes inclusive education by demonstrating equitable access to learning materials and resources used in the classroom, a positive attitude towards diverse learning needs, a good understanding that students may need different things to achieve similar outcomes in classes, and a willingness to be flexible while maintaining academic standards.
Recipients are nominated solely by students.
“Dr. Taheri is passionate and helpful,” says Mackenzie Smith, a 1st-year School of Engineering student and award nominator.
“He has been one of the best teachers I have ever had. He strives to inspire young engineers to be the best engineers they can be, and is always willing to go above and beyond to help students.”
The award was presented to Dr. Taheri in a recent ceremony on UBC’s Okanagan campus.
